The 2015 Global Goes Local Conference is coming to SCSU’s Atwood Memorial Center from April 6 to 7.
The conference has a number of events scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, and starting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, concluding the conference at 2 p.m.
The conference features a series of panels and speakers, along with a performance of “Help Wanted” by Teatro del Pueblo, according to a release by University Communications.
Keynotes speakers including Siyad Abdullahi, founder of professional interpreting and translating service company Language Banc, speaking about the impact of immigrants to Minnesota, and Veronica Mendez Moore with Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha (CTUL) to speak about immigrant workers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Panel topics will feature “Sociology Students Research on Immigrant Workers and Families,” and “Asamblea de Derechos: The Making of the September 13, 2014 St. Cloud March for Immigrant Rights,” among others.
